Special camp for repairing blood vessels and kidney transplantation July, 2025 – MNH-Mloganzila

Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila has organized a special camp for repairing blood vessels (Arterio -venous Fistula Creation) in the body for approximately 60 patients with kidney challenges which will go hand in hand with kidney transplantation for four patients starting July 21-23, 2025.

The kidney transplant will be done by harvesting a kidney from a donor using modern technology of earthen holes (laparascopic Hand Assisted Donor Nephroctomy) a specialty that is available only at MNH-Mloganzila in the country.

According to the Director of Surgical Services MNH-Mloganzila, the camp will be conducted by the hospital’s doctors in collaboration with a panel of experts from South Korea led by the Chief Surgeon, Prof. Park Kwan Tae in coordination with the Africa Future Foundation in South Korea.

Dr. Mfuko added that the camp will be used to build the capacity of approximately 35 experts from various local and foreign hospitals so that they can provide these services in their areas and thus reduce the inconvenience of seeking these medical services away from their areas of residence.

Muhimbili-Mloganzila National Hospital began providing kidney transplant services since 2023, where until now 15 people have benefited from the service and all of their health has improved compared to before.
