TFS provides education on bee products, citizens welcome

Dar es Salaam: Citizens have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to do bee products business at the education provided by the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) at their pavilion located within the pavilion of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

Providing the education, July 08, 2025, TFS Senior Conservator, Mrs. Grace Buchukundi, said the bee products business is one of the sectors with great opportunities but still many citizens do not have accurate legal and practical information on how to enter the market.

“The Beekeeping Act No. 15 of 2002 and its Regulations of 2005 have laid the foundations for the management of the quality and safety of bee products. Every beekeeper or trader is required to be registered with the relevant TFS District Offices”, said Mrs. Buchukundi.

One of the citizens who visited the pavilion, Mr. Mohamed Juma, said the education has opened his eyes after a long time of wanting to enter the beekeeping business without knowing the steps required and where to start.

“I have come to understand that to start, you must have the necessary documents such as a license from BRELA, National Identification Card (NIDA), Taxpayer Registration Certificate (TRA) and a company summary for those with a company. There is also a registration fee of 53,000 shillings per year and quality inspection costs”, said Mr. Juma.

According to Mrs. Buchukundi, local traders and those who intend to sell honey and beeswax abroad are also required to pay permits and sanitation fees based on the weight of the shipment.

The fees for selling beekeeping products abroad start at 110,000 shillings/- for one government year.

TFS has urged citizens to come to their booth to get more education as well as buy Forest Honey — the pure and quality honey produced by TFS.

Citizens are also encouraged to purchase quality seedlings and tree seeds to contribute to forest conservation and environmental sustainability.

“We invite citizens to come and get quality honey and quality seedlings at affordable prices. Our goal is to ensure that the community benefits from forest resources in a sustainable manner”, added Ms. Buchukundi.

The exhibition is expected to continue until the end of this week with citizens encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available.
