RC Chalamila urges religious leaders to pray for national peace ahead of 2025 general elections

The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila has urged religious leaders to continue praying for peace in the country and preaching peace and stability issues in the country to avoid the consequences of peace violations, especially in this period leading up to the general elections.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam at a special meeting with religious leaders, Mr. Chalamila said religious leaders are important in maintaining the peace of the country, while emphasizing that the government through the police force will continue to strengthen security and urged Tanzanians to learn from the consequences of peace violations through neighboring countries with violence.

Mr. Chalamila said no leader likes to see his citizens facing acts of violence and peace violations, so it is important for religious leaders to stand firm through the altars in houses of worship to preach peace.

The Dar es Salaam Regional Sheikh who is also the Chairman of the Regional Peace Committee, Mr. Sheikh Walid Kawambwa said religious leaders have a great role to play in strengthening peace and building values ​​within the community so they should use their positions well.

Ilala District Commissioner, Mr. Edward Mpogolo said religious leaders have played a major role in praying for peace and stability in the country in collaboration with various groups including traders and bodaboda riders.
