Water service resumes in Dar es Salaam

📍 Dar Es Salaam: The availability of clean water services has continued to improve in the Dar Es Salaam and Coast Regions following the completion of preventive maintenance of electrical infrastructure that lasted for 10 hours and resulted in the shutdown of the Ruvu Juu and Ruvu Chini Plants.

The Dar Es Salaam Water and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA) has entered the streets to monitor the availability and improvement of services while calling on the Authority to continue improving services by providing a longer period of water storage when they decide to carry out maintenance.

The Chairman of Kambangwa Street, Mwananyamala Ward, Mr. Mkakata Abdul said that citizens suffered from lack of service for two days (July 1 and 2, 2025) but now the service has returned and citizens of his area are receiving clean water services at a good level.

Mr. Hafia Ibrahim, a resident of Kambangwa – Mwananyamala said water service has returned but some residents have not yet received service and others are receiving it with limited supply.

“We received information about the lack of water service from DAWASA earlier this week, but as of yesterday morning (July 2, 2025) the service has returned with good supply. Citizens continue with our daily social and economic activities,” she stressed.

The Head of DAWASA Communications, Ms. Everlasting Lyaro, has acknowledged the challenge of the lack of water service for more than 10 hours on weekdays (Monday to Tuesday) but for now the service has returned and assured all citizens that they will receive water, while urging the Authority’s technicians to stay on the streets to monitor the service.

“The authorities announced repairs that lasted for 10 hours and by July 2, we had turned on our Ruvu Juu and Chini water production plants and services had started to return to the citizens. Today we are going through the streets to ensure how much the service has improved and to look at areas that still have challenges so that we can resolve them,” said Ms. Lyaro.
