Tanzania pledges to boost economy with Spain

The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango, has said the Tanzanian government is ready to work closely with the Spanish business community as Tanzania and Spain can forge a strong economic partnership to strengthen economic diplomacy.

The Vice President, said on July 02, 2025 while opening the Tanzania-Spain Business Forum held in Sevilla, Spain.

He said Tanzania still recognizes Spain as an important partner in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, agricultural technology, tourism, marine resource industries and trade.

The Vice President, said Tanzania recognizes the private sector as a key partner in development efforts leading to social and economic transformation.

The Vice President has invited them to come and invest in various opportunities including clean cooking energy technology to combat environmental damage resulting from the use of charcoal and firewood.

He said Tanzania is a country with political stability, a strategic geographical location, abundant natural resources, a large youth population and a fast-growing economy.

He said the implementation of reforms by the government to improve the investment environment by recognizing the important role of the private sector in sustainable development.

The Vice President said that under the leadership of the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Government has strengthened legal systems, modern infrastructure and set a strong commitment to transparency and good governance.

He said that Tanzania is currently an investment attraction in East and Southern Africa, offering opportunities in key sectors such as agribusiness, tourism, energy, mining, manufacturing, the blue economy and infrastructure.

He mentioned other areas including fishing and processing, mineral exploration, coastal and marine tourism, transportation as well as investment in developing Tanzania’s coastal areas and islands to benefit from blue economy resources and environmental conservation.

At the meeting, the Investment Sector Leaders presented various areas of investment in Tanzania as well as showing various reforms carried out in the country to improve the business and investment environment.

They also explained the opportunities for the presence of a reliable market for products due to the population, the geographical area of ​​Tanzania which serves various countries, the improvement of basic infrastructure as well as major developments in the IT sector

A total of 31 companies participated in the meeting which are focused on investing in various sectors including food, agriculture, infrastructure construction, industry, water sector, mining sector, energy, IT, tourism as well as the financial sector.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office Finance and Planning Zanzibar, Mr. Aboud Mwinyi, the Tanzanian Ambassador to Spain with his residence in France, Mr. Ali Mwadini, the Director of the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) Mr. Gilead Teri and the Investment Manager of the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA), Mr. Omary Omary.

Others are the Executive Director of the Private Sector, Mr. Raphael Maganga, the Secretary of the Tanzania Business Council, Dr. Godwill Wanga and the Commissioner for Foreign Exchange, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Rished Bade.
