Tanzania named a center for peace education

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace NGO, has designated Tanzania as a center for peace education for HWPL.

The HWPL Peace Conference known as “Seeds of Peace” which was held on May 31, 2025 at the Palace School in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, honored Tanzania as a center for peace education.

The conference, which focused on the application of peace education in local communities, recognized Tanzania for its strong governance and strategic location in East Africa.

A statement released this week said Tanzania’s domestic stability stands in contrast to neighboring conflict-affected countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and Mozambique—making it an ideal base from which to expand peacebuilding efforts in the region.

The conference brought together 27 participants, including 14 private school principals, local education figures, 20 student actors from Palace School and 3 members of HWPL.

The program included an introduction to HWPL, a keynote address by the Palace School principal, a video about peace education cases, a session on its value, a hand gesture activity and a photo session.

The Palace School, known locally for its student-centered approach, hosted the event and fully supported peace education by organizing performances and participating in pre-event planning.

HWPL peace education promotes understanding, conflict resolution and global citizenship. The 12-subject curriculum helps students reflect on peace in everyday life and deal with conflicts without violence.

It has been used in schools around the world, demonstrating positive changes in school behavior and culture. Participating educators said, “The event allowed us to see how peace education can be used not only as a theory but in a real educational setting.” expressing their interest in exploring integration into their own curricula.

HWPL will follow up with participating schools, including Palace School, to develop targeted peace education strategies.

It is also developing a teacher training program to develop peace education facilitators and plans to discuss the formalization of peace education with regional education authorities.

HWPL is an international NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), actively engaged in peace education, interfaith dialogue and the establishment of international peace laws to promote world peace.
