The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassani, has said the Government continues to develop Meatu District, including the completion of electricity distribution in all 109 villages in the District.
Dr. Samia said on June 17, 2025 in Meatu District, Simiyu Region while on a working visit.
“As we promised, we have not stopped there, the work of electricity distribution is now continuing in the suburbs but despite all these efforts, I understand that there is a challenge of electricity shortage which is being resolved”, said Dr. Samia
She said the Ministry of Energy is solving the challenge of electricity shortage by building a transmission line from Shinyanga to Simiyu and the construction of an electricity receiving and cooling station.
She said the completion of the projects will lead to the presence of strong and sufficient electricity for various production activities including Industry.
She said the Government’s goal is to see citizens using electrical energy for various activities including adding value to crops, agriculture and livestock.
