International Tourism Awards for Africa and the Indian Ocean to be held in Tanzania

Tanzania is expected to host the 32nd International Tourism Awards for Africa and the Indian Ocean, with over 500 participants from within and outside the country.

The statement was made on June 11, 2025 in Dar es Salaam by the Executive Director of the Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB), Mr. Ephraim Mafuru while speaking to journalists following the awards to be held on June 26, 2025 at the Johari Rotana Hotel, Dar es Salaam.

Mr. Mafuru said the awards have been organized in collaboration with the World Luxury Media Group Company where various awards will be given to stakeholders in the National and International Tourism sector while urging stakeholders in the Dar es Salaam Region tourism sector to seize the opportunity, including providing services to guests who will participate.

“The aim of the awards is to recognise the contribution of tourism stakeholders around the world, where for this round Tanzania has been given the honour of hosting the awards, this step will be a great boost for our country to continue promoting the International Tourism sector and increasing the value chain through TTB”, said Mr. Mafuru.

“The holding of these awards in our country is due to the efforts made by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to open the country economically, so we should congratulate our President and it should be remembered that such awards have been held in previous years but were not held on a scale like this”, he said.

He said that Tanzania was chosen to host the awards for African and Indian Ocean countries due to Tanzania’s victory in the previous awards as Tanzania led with five awards, beating other African countries.

“A similar awards conference was held in 2024 in Mombasa, Kenya, where Tanzania won five awards, with the best African tourism board taking TTB, the best African tourist attraction was Mount Kilimanjaro, the best African national park was Serengeti, along with the award for the best safari attraction in the world, these achievements are due to the great work done by our leader, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan”, he said

He said 38 companies from the private sector and 12 others from the government will participate in the awards, noting that TTB will continue to put in place better strategies to ensure that major tourism conferences continue to be held in Tanzania and to promote tourism attractions to facilitate the increase in the number of tourists in the country
