HWPL organized the 12th Annual Global Peace Declaration in an online format, bringing together participants from the Middle East and North-East Africa.
The event aimed to reflect on the declaration first announced in 2013 and to promote peace building worldwide. This year’s celebration was themed “Legalize Peace”.
The celebration was marked by a keynote address by the Chair, with presentations from the HWPL Peace Law Initiative (LP) and sectoral presentations from the fields of international law, education, youth, and media.
The activities of the celebration were coordinated by the Peace Committee with Mr. Mzwakhe Nqavashe and Mr. Aziz Hartley and supported by local NGOs.
Participants in the celebration said the initiative is part of a growing movement to reclaim public spaces for peace, security and youth development.
The Food for Life Initiative from the Hare Krishna movement served participants with a variety of food and refreshments provided by the Mustadafin Foundation.
