Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga has said that the Government through the Rural Energy Agency (REA) has provided electricity to 284 Subdistricts in Arumeru East Constituency out of 330 Subdistricts.
Mrs. Kapinga said on June 03, 2025 in Parliament, Dodoma while responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Arumeru East, Dr. John Danielson Pallangyo who asked when the Government will complete the distribution of REA electricity to 37 Subdistricts that are in darkness in Arumeru East Constituency.
She said that 17 Subdistricts are in the implementation stage through the Densification Project (IIB) and the Subdistrict Electrification Project Phase II A (HEP IIA).
She said that in 29 Subdistricts, tenders have been announced to find Contractors to implement projects through the Subdistrict Electrification Project Phase II B (HEP IIB).
She said that the completion of these projects will enable all subdistricts in Arumeru East Constituency to be connected to electricity.
Responding to a supplementary question by the Member of Parliament for Arumeru East, Dr. John Danielson Pallangyo who asked about the Arumeru East Wards that receive water from the Arumeru Mountain Forest and fluoride where the Kweka Company has committed to installing a treatment plant but what is needed is electricity.
Mrs. Kapinga said that the Government has already allocated funds in the next financial year to provide reliable electricity to Seneto Subdistrict, Legeruki Ward for treating fluoride in water.
Responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Moshi Rural, Professor Patrick Alois Ndakidemi who asked when the Government will connect Orera Subdistrict located in Mweka Village to electricity.
Mrs. Kapinga said that in Moshi Rural Constituency there is a Contractor implementing projects to provide electricity to 15 Subdistricts of each MP and added that the subdistrict is on the list of Contractors.
Responding to a question from the MP for Kondoa Urban, Mr. Ally Makoa who asked when the Government will provide electricity to Mongoroma, Chandimo and Hachi streets.
Ms. Kapinga said that the Government has provided electricity to the streets of Kondoa Urban where the remaining three streets remain and added that funds will be allocated from the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) budget to provide electricity to these streets.
Ms. Kapinga said that the provision of electricity is being done in phases according to the availability of funds and the budget that has been allocated.
Responding to a question from the MP for Mwibara, Mr. Charles Kajage who asked about when the Government will provide electricity to the Subdistricts of Mwibara Constituency that do not have electricity, Mrs. Kapinga said that Mwibara Constituency has Subdistrict projects that are being implemented.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Special Seats, Mrs. Rita Kabati who asked for the Government’s statement regarding the presence of a pole in Ilula Ward, Kilolo District since November last year and until today the electricity has not been turned on, Mrs. Kapinga said that by July the area will be covered by electricity service.
