The Ambassador of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr. Mobhare Matinyi, on May 29, 2025, held a meeting with Tanzanians living in the country at the embassy grounds in Stockholm.
During the meeting, which aimed to get to know each other and discuss Diaspora issues, Ambassador Matinyi explained the definition of the word “diaspora” in accordance with the Foreign Policy of 2001, 2024 edition, which was launched on May 19, 2025, in Dar es Salaam by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The Ambassador explained that this policy recognizes the Diaspora as Tanzanian citizens living abroad (Citizen Diaspora) and citizens of other countries of Tanzanian origin (Non-Citizen Diaspora).
Ambassador Matinyi explained to the Tanzanians who came from various cities in Sweden that the policy has recognized the participation of the Diaspora in the development of our country while reiterating the call of the President, Dr. Samia to urge the Diaspora to invest in the country to contribute to the development of the nation.
Quoting the budget speech in parliament by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabiti Kombo, Ambassador Matinyi told them that for the year 2024, the Tanzanian Diaspora invested 7.5 billion shillings in the UTT-AMIS fund and 9.28 billion shillings in the property sector through the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and the private sector.
After the talks, Ambassador Matinyi urged them to build unity and cooperation as the main symbols of Tanzanians wherever they are in the world and fight for the interests of their country at all times.
