OR- RALGM: The Head of the Government Communications Unit and Spokesperson of the Ministry of RALGM, Mr. John Mapepele has called on Regional and Council Information Officers in the country to prioritize patriotism and professionalism when providing information so that the information is productive for the nation.
Mr. Mapepele made the call over the weekend while presenting a paper on Strategic Communications to Announce the Achievements of the Health, Education and Infrastructure Sectors under RALGM to more than 200 Regional and Council Information Officers in the country in Dodoma at a two-day working session for these Information Officers coordinated by the Ministry.

The session was opened by the Minister of State in the President’s Office-RALGM, Mr. Mohamed Omary Mchengerwa and closed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and the Chief Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa discussed strategies to publicize the Government’s achievements, as well as building the capacity of the Information Officers on the use of digital systems in the provision of information and coming up with several resolutions to improve performance.
Mr. Mapepele said that there have been great successes in development projects that have been implemented in all regions and Councils in the country that have not been properly announced by the Information Officers in those areas and urged them to be creative in providing such information.
“My brothers, the Government of President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a major revolution in the infrastructure sector where we have witnessed roads, bridges, bus stops and markets being built every day.
He mentioned other things such as classrooms, dispensaries, health centers and medical equipment in every corner so it is our responsibility as Information Officers of the Councils and Regions to be patriotic and speak for our Government so that citizens can know and use these services fully”, said Mr. Mapepele
Mr. Mchengerwa has urged all RALGM Information Officers to ensure that citizens receive accurate and timely information on development projects implemented by the Government in their areas of work.
“You have a great responsibility to ensure that citizens receive accurate information so do not let Tanzanians be fed false information”, said, Mr. Mchengerwa
The Secretary General, Mr. Msigwa has commended the Ministry of RALGM for coordinating this working session where he has advised that it be held every year to conduct an assessment of the work performance and discuss various issues of the work performance of this large group of Regional and Council Information Officers in the country in providing information on development projects.
The Information Officers had the opportunity to visit the Mtumba Government Town and see for themselves how complete it is in terms of infrastructure.
