Deputy Minister of Energy, Mrs. Judith Kapinga said the Government has brought electricity to 58 streets of Tarime District Council out of the 81 streets of the Council.
Mrs. Kapinga said on May 26, 2025 in parliament in Dodoma while responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Tarime Urban, Mr. Michael Kembaki who asked when the Government will bring electricity to 18 streets of Tarime City Council.
“Honorable Deputy Speaker, Tarime City Council has 81 streets, out of which 58 streets have already been reached by electricity and 23 streets have not yet been reached by electricity”, said Mrs. Kapinga
He said 13 streets are being electrified through the Hamlets Electrification Project – IIA (HEP IIA) project implemented by the Contractor Dyname Construction Engineering and the remaining 10 streets will be electrified through future projects.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Women (UWT), Mr. Zaytuni Swai who asked about how the Government is planning to electrify the peripheral areas of Arusha city, especially in Telat Ward.
Ms. Kapinga said the Government is implementing various projects in the peripheral areas (Peri Urban) through the Rural Energy Agency (REA) which aims to supply electricity to the peripheral areas of the city.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Women (UWT), Ms. Cecilia Pareso who asked about the lack of electricity in Karatu District Subdistricts and the few in the project being sent 40 poles which do not meet the needs and requesting the Government to increase that number.
Ms. Kapinga said that usually Subdistrict projects are scaled according to the work assigned to the Contractor, however, he said that Karatu District is part of the 9,000 Subdistricts project which will begin implementation soon and emphasized that projects to provide electricity to Subdistricts are sustainable.
