The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has promised to reward Simba SC with $100,000 if it succeeds in winning the CAF Confederation Cup.
Dr. Mwinyi made the promise when he met and spoke with Simba SC leaders and players at the Madinat Al Bahr Hotel.
President Dr. Mwinyi encouraged the players and wished them all the best for their final match to be played tomorrow at the New Amaan Complex Stadium against RS Berkane from Morocco, at 4pm, where he himself will be the Guest of Honour.
He said that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (SMT) support the efforts of Simba Club that enabled them to reach the Final stage and he has encouraged the Players to play with confidence to win the trophy for the first time in the history of the club.
In addition, Dr. Mwinyi has urged football fans to support Simba SC with one heart and cheer for it fully to give motivation to the Players in fulfilling the dream of winning the Confederation Cup.
This is the second time for Simba Club to play in the CAF Championship Final, after doing so for the first time in 1993 against Stella Abidjan Club of Ivory Coast. In that game, played at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the Official Guest was the Late Mzee Ali Hassan Mwinyi and Simba lost in that game
