Muhimbili Hospital Mloganzila Branch has been the first to offer congratulations to the former Advisor to the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Health and Medicine, who is also the Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital, Prof. Mohamed Janabi after he was declared the winner in the election for the position of Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Africa Region.
The Second Special Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa held on May 18, 2025, in Geneva, has elected and declared Prof. Mohamed Janabi as the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa.

Prof. Janabi defeated four candidates Out of the 46 votes cast, Prof. Janabi received 32 votes, equivalent to 69.5%, leaving the other candidates, Dr.N’da Konan Yao (Ivory Coast), Dr.Dramé Lamine (Guinea), Dr.Boureima Sambo (Niger) and Prof.Mijiya wa Moustafa of [Togo] sharing only 14 votes.
