Clean Energy education makes Tanesco secretaries supervisors happy

Arusha: Secretaries and supervisors of offices from various institutions in the country have commended the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) for providing them with proper education on the use of Clean Energy for cooking, which will help eliminate the use of unsafe energy sources including firewood and charcoal.

They said yesterday after visiting the TANESCO Pavilion at the ongoing exhibition at the Ngurudoto grounds in Arumeru District, Arusha Region.

They said that due to the lack of proper education on the use of electricity for cooking, many of them were afraid to use electricity for cooking, fearing high costs due to the use of electrical equipment that has not been certified.

They explained that at the TANESCO Pavilion they have seen modern electrical cooking equipment including special stoves (Induction) and ‘pressure cookers’ that use less electricity and encouraged them to start using clean energy for cooking.

“Today I was given good education about the use of electric energy for cooking and I found that they have good stoves that save time and also save electricity compared to the old stoves”, said Mrs. Adventina Kajuna, ELCT Kagera Office Manager.

TANESCO Marketing Officer Mrs. Adelina Lyakurwa said that the organization has decided to participate in the Conference with the aim of encouraging participants of the Conference as well as various citizens who showed up at the Conference’s exhibitions to use clean electric energy for cooking as it is cheaper than other energies.

“TANESCO has used the opportunity of this Tanzania Office Managers Conference to announce the Clean Energy for Cooking Agenda of Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, therefore, we have encouraged participants of this Conference as well as citizens who showed up to use Clean Energy for cooking as it is faster, cheaper and saves the environment”, said Mrs. Adelina Lyakurwa.

At the Conference, TANESCO has emerged as the winner of the award for sending the largest number of participants to the 12th Conference of Tanzania Administrative Secretaries (TAPSEA) in 2025, where more than 90 Administrative Secretaries from TANESCO participated in the Conference and used the opportunity to thank it for enabling them to participate in the Conference.

The award was presented by the Vice President of Tanzania Dr. Philip ‘Mpango’ and received by Tanesco Marketing Officer Adelina Lyakurwa and Lucy Kishari, Administrative Secretary of TANESCO, Morogoro Region.
