The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila has launched a 24-hour trading plan at the Mbezi market at the Malamba Mawili stand in Ubungo district and assured traders of their safety while urging trade officials not to harass traders.
Speaking in Ubungo district in Dar es Salaam at the launch held last night at the Mbezi market in front of hundreds of traders from the market who gathered to listen to him.
Mr. Chalamila said Dar es Salaam is a hub of trade that is fueled by the presence of the port, Magufuli bus station and Mwalimu Nyerere International Airport so there is no reason to sleep.
Mr. Chalamila has urged traders not to fear for their safety as the Government in the region is increasingly strengthening security and safety so that the city can be more peaceful while instructing the Ubungo District Commissioner not to allow trade officials to harass traders as such actions are against the rules.
However, Mr. Chalamila has used the opportunity to ask the Ubungo District Council to make model cages for trading, where he has given one week to complete the work so that traders themselves can make their own cages.
The Ubungo District Commissioner, Advocate Albert Msando, has assured the safety of traders, drivers and citizens, while the District Administrative Secretary Hassan Mkwawa assured them that despite the lights being turned off in many areas, they will continue to put enough lights so that trade can be carried out 24 hours a day effectively.
The ‘Shamra shamra’ of the launch took place all night until morning, with the stage graced by various artists including a DJ from Efm radio accompanied by MC Pilau from Efm.
