Tanzania to participate in global environment conference in Denmark

The Embassy of Tanzania in Sweden has coordinated the participation of the Tanzanian delegation in the Global Environment Ministerial Conference to be held from May 07 to 08, 2025, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Tanzanian delegation to the conference is led by the Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President (Union and Environment), Mr. Hamad Masauni, where 30 ministers in charge of environmental issues from various countries, the European Union Commission and other environmental stakeholders have participated.

The aim of the conference is to receive information from each country on how it has contributed to reducing global greenhouse gases, exchange experiences and set up preparatory plans for the COP 30 conference expected to be held in November, 2025 in Brazil.

Tanzania’s agenda at the conference is to increase access to finance for the implementation of climate change programs, clean cooking energy and ensure that the funds promised by various donors for the implementation of these projects are released on time.

Another agenda is to persuade environmental stakeholders to provide concessional aid to implement environmental programs and invest in carbon footprint technology, including building the capacity of institutions that coordinate environmental issues in the country.

On the other hand, Tanzania has expressed its intention to continue implementing climate change adaptation projects in collaboration with various stakeholders through partnerships and by using its natural resources such as oceans, forests, rare minerals, lakes, rivers and the construction of environmentally friendly infrastructure.
