Selcom has announced that it has launched financial services through its application known as SelcomPesa.
Speaking on a TV show yesterday, Selcom officials said that they have launched the service to help their customers save money that is being deducted due to high deductions.
The information officials said that through SelcomPesa, customers will be able to save more than 60 percent of the deductions that have been deducted when making mobile transactions and banking transactions.
“With our application, you only deduct a small amount and you can make large transactions at the same time, unlike other services where you make transactions and they set a specific limit for you, with us you can withdraw up to ten million,” said a Selcom official.
They said that if a customer downloads the Selcom application, he will also be able to earn an income of 2,000 shillings / – for each person he connects and that joining is very easy after downloading the application and added that you use any phone number and when you connect, you are given a pay-per-number service right away.
“If you join SelcomPesa you will be able to perform banking services such as sending or receiving money from any network, also if you are a merchant you will be able to be given a Lipa number through which your customers will pay you through that number”, said Selcom officials.
They said that currently the service is available in Tanzania and Kenya through the SafariCom mobile company and that they are continuing to expand the service to other countries and added that they have also introduced a Master Card service that you can use at ATMs.
“If your account has money and the phone is turned off or you do not have a smart phone, you can use the Card to make transactions or use the USSD code *150*35# to make transactions using a phone of any network”, they said
Similarly, Selcom has a device that helps make transactions especially for traders. The device is sold for Shs. 300,000/- of which 200,000 shillings/- is the price of the device. They said 100,000 shillings/- you are deposited in your account by starting the use of ‘float’ transactions.
The device has the ability to deposit and provide on all mobile networks but in terms of the bank the device is capable of depositing all the money and providing all Benks except CRDB, NMB and NBC.
They said the device is now capable of operating throughout Tanzania and has the ability to pay government payments through Control numbers.
Similarly, Selcom has a device that helps make transactions especially for traders. The device is sold for Shs. 300,000/- of which 200,000 shillings/- is the price of the device.

“A businessman using our device to do bank transactions, telephone or government payments we collect his comissions and at the end of the month we pay him”, the officials said.

So far Selcom in the financial service has the ability to use the card, a specialized device for transactions, USSD code and application known as SelcomPesa.
