The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has urged the strengthening of economic diplomacy between Zanzibar and Japan.
Speaking at the State House, Zanzibar, on September 9, 2025, with the Tanzanian Ambassador to Japan, Hon. Anderson Gukwi Mutatembwa, Dr. Mwinyi said Japan has many investors whom Zanzibar welcomes to invest especially in the blue economy, seaweed trade, tourism, sports, oil and gas.
He said Zanzibar aims to establish industries producing marine products and therefore it is important to attract more investors from Japan.
Ambassador Mutatembwa assured President Dr. Mwinyi to focus on managing economic cooperation and development projects between Japan and Tanzania, including Zanzibar.
